12 Easy DIY Lip & Body Scrub Recipes

One way to keep your skin looking and feeling healthy is to exfoliate regularly to eliminate dead skin cell buildup. Your skin is left refreshed and smooth. Unfortunately, many body scrubs contain unnecessary ingredients and artificial fragrances. These DIY body scrub recipes are all easy to follow with only a few ingredients and good for your skin. Body scrubs also make perfect gifts for friends and loved ones. Attach a cute gift tag to tell them how to use it.

Scrubs should be made with fractionated coconut oil which is an all-natural carrier oil that doesn’t solidify. Fractionated coconut oil is a feather-light emollient that softens and hydrates dry skin while increasing essential oil distribution. It readily absorbs into the skin, leaving skin feeling silky and smooth without the greasy after effect (and doesn’t clog pores). It is colorless and odorless which makes it perfect for scrubs. It should be used when applying strong essential oils topically to help reduce skin sensitivity. Always test scrubs in small areas if you have sensitive skin.

Candy Cane Sugar Scrub

This scrub makes a perfect holiday gift. Dress it up with a red bow and a candy cane for a super cute gift. Made with Peppermint oil, not only will it shed skin, it will open your senses. (and since this is just food coloring, it could be adapted to any color really for any gift-giving occasion.

Most of those products are chalk-full of artificial fragrances and chemicals that trick your nose into thinking that it is the real thing when it really isn’t. This Strawberry-Lime Sugar Scrub smells like fresh strawberry jam and is even easier to make.

Coconut and Lime Sugar Scrub

While this one has lime zest, I would recommend adding a couple of drops of Lime essential oil to the mix. Lime is energizing and uplifting and has great cleansing qualities which make it great for a scrub.

To purchase doTERRA essential oils or the doTERRA fractionated coconut oil, you can visit my online store. I sometimes purchase fractionated coconut oil from Amazon since it comes with a pump and makes it easier to use. I also like to buy these 4 oz. Ball jars when making these for gifts and these 1.5 oz. hexagon jelly jars are good if you are making samples or party favors.

When using doTERRA essential oils use only a few drops as they are very concentrated vs. ordinary store brands. You can read more about why I chose doTERRA essential oils by clicking the link. Or if you would like to try a FREE SAMPLE of doTERRA’s Wild Orange, click HERE.
